Cleaning Your Electronic Cigarette Atomizer

The atomizer is responsible for turning the liquid nicotine into vapor which is then inhaled by the user. Although, the atomizer is the smallest component, it is the heart and the work horse of your e-cigarette. An electronic cigarette cannot function without an atomizer. Unlike popular belief, cleaning and maintaining the atomizer need not be a messy and a daunting task. With sufficient practice, you will see that it is just as easy to clean an electronic cigarette atomizer as it is to clean the blender.

One of the most important steps in cleaning the atomizer is the regularly purging the housing and the heating coil chamber. This may sound difficult in theory bit is actually a very simple task in practice. Since the cartridge couples onto the atomizer some amount of the nicotine liquid will invariable seep into the coil chamber. If left untreated, the build up will increase gradually leading to a stale tasting vapor as well as clog the atomizer leading to its rapid deterioration. To drain the residual liquid from the coil chamber, place the atomizer over a piece of cloth and blow into the hole where the battery screws onto the atomizer. The wind pressure created by your blowing into the hole will force the residual liquid to seep out. Alternate between blowing through the hole and tapping the atomizer gently to allow for maximum drainage. Once the gurgling sound ceases, stand the atomizer up on a clean piece of cloth or tissue and leave overnight to ensure even the last droplets of liquid are drained out and the coil inside is as dry as a bone.

Another technique to clean the atomizer is to dismantle the e-cigarette and place the atomizer with the battery side up. Gravity then takes over and pulls the residual liquid towards the bottom of the atomizer and eventually onto the tissue paper on which the atomizer rests. The next day, you will be able to see the tissue paper wet with the residual liquid that has drained out of the atomizer. As opposed to the cleaning technique described earlier, this method is time consuming and requires the atomizer be left standing up overnight.

While, there is no standard or accepted cleaning techniques, the ones mentioned here have been tried and tested and are actually some of the best methods you could deploy to clean the e-cigarette atomizer. With regular cleaning and proper maintenance, your atomizer may just outlive its counterparts by a month or two. As they say, a little tender loving care goes a long way in ensuring the health and longevity of the components of an e-cigarette.

So, happy cleaning and happy vaping!
